SUMMARY:*BUILDING HEALTHY GARDEN SOILS FOR BETTER VEGETABLES
DESCRIPTION:FREE. Advance registration required.\nWe will focus on the techniques you can deploy to improve the health of your garden soil and as a result the quality of your fruits and vegetables.  What are the characteristics of a healthy soil and what is the role of “Soil Organic Matter” in building healthy garden soils? Bruce will try to tease out how results “No Till” farmland research can inform your garden soil improvement process.  We will review the common techniques of soil improvement ranging from extreme no till to the disruption of “Double Dig\,” all of which try to preserve and increase soil organic matter and their drawbacks.  Ending with a description of Bruce’s process of garden soil improvement. \n*Class approved for 1 hour Continuing Education credit for MG Perennials \nAccommodation requests related to a disability should be made two weeks in advance to Jenifer Halter\, 503-821-1150\, jenifer.halter@oregonstate.edu.
