The purposes of our Tool Care Session are:
- Cleaning tools (handheld and battery powered)
- Learn techniques to sharpen hand tools using various files and then use the EG tools so we can have them ready to go.
- Techniques to clean the battery powered tools and where needed, to also add oil (such as for the chainsaw)
- Best practices for cleaning tools at the end of our work shifts
You are welcome to bring your own hand tools from home e.g. pruners, loppers, hoe, shovel to also sharpen by hand.
If you have supplies, files to clean your own hand tools, please bring those. We will bring what we have in the Tool Shed, but more would be helpful. Just label your things.
When we are back in the garden working routinely, we can also schedule an in-service for use of the battery powered tools.
Contact Sue Ryburn or Susan Albright for more information.
In collaboration with and in support of the OSU Extension Service Master Gardener Program, the Washington County Master Gardener Association (WCMGA) provides relevant, research-based education and outreach to the public about horticulture and household pests. This information promotes sustainable practices that minimize risks to human health and the environment. WCMGA sponsors a wide variety of gardening–related demonstrations, lectures, seminars and workshops in various Washington County Oregon locations. Most of our events are free and open to the public. The WCMGA is a 501c3 non-profit supported by hundreds of volunteers, who work to educate the public about sustainable, affordable gardening.
